Electronics Technician Program in Aurora, CO

The Electronics Technician courses are taught over two semesters and consist of electronic theory, laboratory experiments, applied mathematics, and practical applications which prepare students to work with solid state and digital systems. Classes in both Analog and Digital Electronics are offered each semester.

Upon successful completion of the Pickens Electronics Technician program, the student has the option to seek employment as a Maintenance Technician, Electrical Equipment Technician or Electronic Test Technician. Students may also continue their electronics education in one of the two areas of emphasis at a local community college.

This program participates in the CCCS common course numbering system for course transfer to Colorado Community Colleges.

Years Teaching: Since 2009

Teaching Background:

John spent 2 years as the Manager of Technical Training for Arrow Electronics creating programs to help the sales staff develop a  technical understanding of the semiconductor products they were selling. He has now worked at Pickens for 12 years teaching Analog and Digital Electronics. He developed and launched one of Colorado’s first Mobile Application programs, teaching students the programming skills to create apps for phones and tablets.  

Years in Industry: 25

Industry Background:
John started his career working for COBE Laboratories developing dialysis equipment for renal care patients. He stayed in the medical equipment field for 7 years designing and manufacturing Auto-Transfusion systems, mass spectrometer and perfusion pumps for open heart surgery. After leaving the medical OEM industry he spent time working with Arrow Electronics and Intel as an Applications Engineer and stayed with Arrow for 18 years in various roles from training and development to global databases.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology
